
Trayonna D. Barnes, MSW, LSW is an award-winning Therapist, Bestselling children’s book Author, and nationally recognized Mental Health Advocate dedicated to transforming the way children experience literacy and emotional wellness. As the Founder and CEO of Trayonna Barnes Books, she creates therapist-written children’s books that help families navigate difficult conversations while inspiring children to develop a lifelong love of reading.
Trayonna serves as a Literacy Ambassador for Funktropolis Jr., where she helps advance innovative literacy initiatives that make reading engaging, accessible, and meaningful for children and families. She is also a Black Mental Wellness Ambassador and a Cincy Reads Ambassador, working to close the literacy and mental health gaps through community partnerships, education, and storytelling.
Her work has earned numerous honors, including the 2026 Change Agent Award from the Cincinnati Arts Equity Collective, the Howard University Alumni Association Outstanding Young Alumni Leadership Award, and the Community Impact Award for her commitment to improving the lives of children and families. She was also recognized as one of Cincinnati’s 30 Under 30 for her leadership and community impact.
